Workshop Cut Planner is a local Windows worksheet for one-dimensional cuts from equal-length stock. Enter your stock length, part lengths and quantities, saw kerf and total end trim. Calculate a layout to see colored stock-bar diagrams, piece assignments and remaining lengths.

Know the calculation convention

All dimensions use whole millimetres. One kerf is charged for every requested piece, including the last piece, and total end trim is deducted once per stock bar. This can be conservative when an existing stock end could be used. Enter both-end trim as one combined amount.

Important limitations

The layout uses a first-fit-decreasing heuristic. It is not guaranteed to use the fewest stock bars or produce the best layout. It supports one stock length at a time, up to 2,000 pieces, and no 2D sheet nesting or mixed stock lengths. Residual lengths are mathematical remainders, not guaranteed reusable offcuts.

Verify your measurements and allow separately for defects, grain, clamping and your cutting process. This is a planning aid, not machine control, structural engineering or tool-operating guidance. Project saving is explicit; there is no automatic save or cloud sync. Keep independent copies of important measurements.

Windows64-bit version 0.1.0. Unsigned and tested on one development computer. Minimum source layout inspected at 660×640; compatibility with every Windows/DPI setup is not verified.
